Rustic menu of local produce
Dining at the Hotel Posta
means you can enjoy a warm, welcoming atmosphere with a rustic
tradition. Here in Livigno, nestled in the heart of the Alps, you
will discover the traditional flavours that the Valtellina is
famous for.
The local cuisine will enrich your stay with us, as it is
delicate yet filling.
What will you eat at Hotel Posta?
One dish you will
almost certainly have heard of or will do, is Pizzoccheri alla
Valtellinese, which is symbolic of the local area. A pasta dish
consisting of tagliatelle made from a mix of wheat and buckwheat
flour, served with local Casera cheese, butter, sage and cabbage.
But to start a meal, before the Pizzoccheri, we suggest you try
two other local specialties, sciatt and chiscioi. Sciatt are
round fritters filled with cheese, the batter made from buckwheat
flour and grappa or acquavite. Chiscioi are also fritters made
from buckwheat flour and cheese, but served with chicory salad.
If you don't love fried food then try the bresaola (cured beef)
served with fresh or matured goats cheese, a popular dish in the
area.
For your main course don't miss the sliced venison steak served
with pine nuts, raisins and grappa. Remember that most meals come
with a side of polenta taragna, made with buckwheat flour and
seasoned with butter and Casera cheese.
Hopefully this has whet your appetite!
